What does Jesus expect of us?
- That we may believe in Him. 16: 30, 31; Revelation 3: 20)
- That we may seek Him with all our hearts (Jeremiah 29: 12-13)
- We loved Him more than anyone and everything (Matthew 10:36-37; John 12:42-43; Luke 5:28)
- So we must repent and be baptized (Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16; Acts 22:16)
- So we were ready to take up your cross and follow Him (Matthew 10:38; Luke 9:23; Luke 5:27)
What does God promise us in return?
There are at least 30,000 promises in the Bible that say that God will never leave us alone or abandon us, even if everyone turns away from us (Isaiah 49: 15), He will never betray us, and is always ready to accept and forgive no matter how serious our sin (Isaiah 1:18). There are many other inspiring and sincere words of comfort, support, and love to be found in the Scriptures, but the main promise is that Jesus will return and lead us to the Heavenly abode to give us eternal life (Matthew 19: 27-29; John 14: 2). Nothing here on Earth can even compare to this!
Let's trust God. Let us not be afraid to do His will, to keep His commandments. If we do this, God takes responsibility for our well-being. Even when we obeyed God reluctantly or completely ignored His will because of our lack of knowledge about Him, He still took care of us. Moreover, we can count on Him not to abandon us when we strive to live in obedience to Him.
If you decide to take this step in your life, bow down before Him, tell Him, as you know how, that you are ready to follow Him and do His will. Put your hand in the hand of Jesus to walk with Him.
