Some say they don’t believe in God because they cannot see Him. But there are a lot of things in the world that we believe in without the ability to see them, such as electricity, radio waves, oxygen, love.
Others say they don’t believe because they don’t understand Him. From the Bible God says, It is impossible for our limited minds to understand all its many facets: “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts”(Isaiah 55:9).
If we can trust God?
We must trust God by giving Him all our problems and concerns (1 Peter 5: 7). The Bible contains wonderful promises for those who believe in the Lord and trust Him.
- “ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[] have been called according to his purpose”( Romans 8:28).
- If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31).
- God will not allow us to be tested beyond our strength and will give us the strength to endure them (1 Corinthians 10: 13).
- God comes to the rescue in times of trouble (Psalm 45: 2).
- Nothing is impossible for Him (Matthew 19: 26).
What is God like? How do I get to know him?
God reveals himself to man in two ways:
- through nature and the inhabitants of the earth (Psalm 18: 2; Romans 1: 20)
- and through the Bible (Hebrews 1: 1, 2).
As we read the Bible, we learn that God is:
- immortal (1 Timothy 6: 16)
- eternal (Isaiah 57: 15)
- unchangeable (James 1: 17)
- Holy (1 Samuel 2: 2)
- wise (Jude 1: 25)
- perfect (Matthew 5:48)
- loving humanity (Exodus 34:6)
- Is merciful (Psalm 85: 15)
- Is just (Psalm 118:137).
- Is truth (Jeremiah 10: 10).
- As a Father (Mark 11: 25; 1 Corinthians 8:6),
- Who loves us (Jeremiah 31: 3)
- Is involved in all our affairs (Psalm 32: 15)
- worries about our problems (Psalm 39: 18)
- Comforts us (2 Corinthians 1:3)
- gives us what we really need (Philippians 4: 19)
- admonishes us (Hebrews 12: 11).
The character of God the Father is especially clearly revealed in His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, about whom the Bible tells us (John 1:18; 10:30; 14:9).
