How often should I pray?
According to the Bible, one should pray constantly (Romans 12: 12). This means that the believer must always remain in the spirit of prayer, that is, mentally communicate with the Lord (Colossians 4: 2).
But at the same time, you need to allocate time for personal prayer in solitude with God. Jesus advised us to lock ourselves in a room and communicate with our Heavenly Father (Matthew 6: 6). Even in straitened circumstances, it is advisable to do this at least three times a day (Daniel 6:10).
Following the teachings of Jesus Christ, it is advisable to begin prayer with an appeal to God: "Our Father" (Matthew 6: 9).
This is followed by the main part of the prayer, when a person tells God everything that he wants to say. Jesus advised us to pray in His name (John 16: 23).
You can pray in your own words, that is, talk to God about what is in our hearts. The prayer ends with the word "Amen", which means " truly, so be it."
Does God answer prayers?
God hears all our prayers and is ready to help us (Matthew 7: 7-11).
But the Lord does not answer all our requests to Him. The Bible calls the conditions under which God answers prayers:
- you must ask in faith (Mark 11:23, 24)
- ask for good and not for pleasures (James 4:3)
- ask for what pleases God (Luke 22:41, 42, 1 John 5:14)
- show a spirit of forgiveness (Mark 11:25)
- do not stop to pray and not to faint in anticipation
- keep the Lord's commandments (1 John 3: 22, John 15: 7)
The Bible also points out what prevents you from receiving an answer to prayer:
- requests filled with selfishness (James 4:3)
- doubts (James 1:6)
- unwillingness to forgive someone (Matthew 6: 14, 15)
- disrespectful relationships in the family (1 Peter 3: 7)
- unrecognized and unrepentant sin (Psalm 65: 18)
- disobedience to the Law of God (Proverbs 28:9)
