Who can be baptized?
In the Bible there are a few conditions for baptism:
- the desire to be baptized (Acts 8:36)
- faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 8:37; Mark 16:16)
- repentance of sins (Acts 2:38; Mark 1:4)
- knowledge of the teachings of Jesus (Matthew 28:20)
- a promise to God to keep His commandments, and to live according to conscience (1 Peter 3:21).
However, these conditions cannot be fulfilled when baptizing young children, so this rite does not correspond to the biblical establishment. Teenagers and young people can be baptized when they fully understand Christian teaching, have personal experiences with God, and are able to take responsibility for their actions. An adult can be baptized at any age.
What is the evidence of this rite?
When this ritual is performed consciously and sincerely, it testifies to the human desire:
- to leave the old sinful life (Ephesians 4:22-32; 5:8-11)
- to live a new life in Christ (Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:1, 2).
- to obtain the forgiveness of past sins, and the gift of the Holy spirit (Acts 2:38).
- to start a new relationship with the Lord from that moment(Galatians 3:26, 27).
- become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ (Acts 2: 41, 47).
- Move away from evil and trust God so that the enemy cannot defeat him (James 4:7; 1 John 5:18).
- Begin the process of sanctification – the constant improvement of character that continues throughout life (Romans 6:22; 1 Thessalonians 4: 3).
What call does God make?
God does not want anyone to perish, so He calls us to repent (Ezekiel 33: 11; 2 Peter 3:9) and join His Church through baptism (Acts 22: 16).
We accept this divine invitation to receive salvation (Mark 16:16; John 3:5). However, one fact that baptism is not sufficient for salvation (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10; Galatians 5:19-21).
The will of God that we with It have transformed their lives and every day, holding the hand of God to live the Christian life (Matthew 7:21-23; Romans 12:1, 2).
