Lesson 4.2. Enemies of the Book Change of the Scriptures II

The interesting point is, as stated earlier, the Qur’an does not even accuse the People of the Book (the Jews and the Christians) of changing the previous Scriptures; but it accuses them of not following what the Scriptures (Tawrat, Zabur and Injeel) were teaching. The allegation that the text of the Bible was changed does not exist in the Qur’an. Instead, the Qur’an uplifts the previous Scriptures and condemns those who misinterpret its meaning. Even though such confirmation exists in the Qur’an, yet there are some scholars who claim that the Qur’an actually teaches that the Bible was corrupted or changed and hence the need for the revelation of the Qur’an. Such a view is beyond the Qur’an’s teachings, based on people’s philosophy and assumptions, and is not based on evidence from within the Qur’an.

Question 3: How would the theological differences between Jews and Christians help to preserve the original texts?
Each sect would have been loyally guarding their text from being tampered with by the other group.
Because the Christians and Jews had different beliefs, they never talked with each other or shared what their holy books contained.
There were so many theological differences between the Jews and Christians that they all decided to lock their scriptures in a museum.
