Lesson 2.6. A Complete System The Quran and the Bible

These verses state that not only has the Qur’an come to confirm the Bible (or the earlier Scriptures) but also to guard its safety. So the allegation that the Bible has been changed or corrupted is not valid since the believers were told that the Qur’an has come to confirm the Biblical revelation as authentic. You see, not only did some believers falsely accept that the Bible was changed, but also many non-believers throughout the world had made claims against the Bible for centuries. The Qur’an was now revealed to confirm that the Bible, the previous Scriptures, as the authentic Word of Allah; the Qur’an was to be the guardian of these Scriptures (or better to say, Allah was the guardian). So the claim that the Bible was changed after the Qur’an was revealed becomes invalid since the Qur’an itself confirms the validity of the previous Scriptures and its unchanged message.

However, for centuries Muslims and non-Muslims have alleged that the Bible has been changed, and this charge deserves closer scrutiny. In our next study, we will see if any changes were made between the time of Muhammad and present-day.

Question 12: What does the fundamental Islamic pillar of the Holy Books teach?
Muslims must read only the Qur’an since the Bible is corrupted.
Muslims may choose to read what they like; it doesn’t really matter.
Muslims are obliged to read all four Holy Books as legitimate and truth-filled revelations from Allah.
