The Qur’an does not assert that the Qur’anic revelation has come because the Bible was corrupted. On the contrary, it asserts that although the Qur’an has now come, Muslims must still continue to believe in the previous Scriptures. Muslim believers are to believe in all the holy books that Allah has sent. This implies that at the time of the Qur’anic revelation the previous books were still considered valid and unchanged revelations of Allah. This concept seems new to many believers. Many are amazed that the Qur’an is so emphatic on this point.
However, in this verse the Qur’an has gone one step further by stating that anyone who denies the Beliefs of Islam, one of which is the “Belief in the Holy Books of Allah,” has gone “far, far astray.” The Qur’an emphasizes that the person has not gone “far astray” but “far, far astray.” This implies that it is a very serious matter as far as the Qur’an is concerned. So who is the person that has gone far, far astray? Certainly he is an unbeliever. According to this verse, a believer should not deny Allah, nor his angels, nor his books (PLURAL), nor his prophets, nor the Day of Judgment. So if a believer believes in Allah, his angels, his prophets, and the Day of Judgment - but does not believe in all the Holy Books, this means that the person is almost a good believer but has denied Allah’s previous revelations. The verse does not say, “book”, but “books” which implies the belief in all of Allah’s revelations is imperative for the true believer.
