Lesson 1.3. Timeless Messages Zabur

Where did Prophet Daoud (pbuh) get the Zabur from?

“And it is your Lord that knoweth best all beings that are in the heavens and on earth: We did bestow on some prophets more (and other) gifts than on others: and We gave to David (the gift of) the Psalms.”

(Surat Al-Isra 17:55)

The Qur’an also confirms that Allah revealed the Zabur (the Psalms) to Prophet Daoud (David) (An-Nisa 4:163; Al-Isra 17:55); and it is “a blessed book sent down to him” (Saad 38:29). Because he was one of Ibrahim’s (pbuh) rightly-guided descendants (Al-‘Anam 6:84), Allah gave him the Scripture, wisdom and prophecy. Commentator Yusuf Ali, a translator of the Qur’an into English, comments, ‘David was given the Zabur, the Psalter or Psalms, intended (then) to be sung for the worship of Allah and the celebration of Allah’s praise.’

Question 5: What gift did Allah bestow upon Prophet Daoud (pbuh)?
A special son.
The Kingdom of Palestine.
