Lesson 1.1. Timeless Messages Revelations of Allah

According to the Qur’an, which revelations has Allah sent down to mankind?

“It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong)”

(Surat Al-‘Imran 3:3-4)

The verse above states that Allah revealed the Qur’an and he also revealed the Scriptures that came before it (the Tawrat, Zabur, and Injeel). These revelations were important because they provided a moral system of right and wrong and a criterion for mankind’s judgment. So according to the articles of faith there are a total of four books revealed by Allah: the Tawrat, the Zabur, the Injeel and the Qur’an. As a true believer, disqualifying any revelation of Allah would deprive us of the complete moral system for accurate judgment.

Question 1: What does Sura 3:3-4 NOT give as a reason the previous revelations were sent down?
To be a spiritual and ethical criterion between right and wrong.
To be a guide for mankind.
To be only a guide for a short period of time and be replaced later.
